Greensted Primary School & Nursery opens new classroom facilities in time for new school year

Our team handed over the keys to a range of new and much-needed facilities at Greensted Primary School & Nursery in Basildon this month.

Located on Kirby Road and serving pupils between the ages of 3 and 11, this Academy has been awarded an Outstanding inspection rating by Ofsted and is renowned for the remarkable all-round learning experience it delivers to pupils within its catchment.

As one of the most sought-after primary schools in the local area, the team at Greensted were keen to upgrade their onsite facilities to provide even better support for children and staff.

The project – which has been a collaboration between A.W. Hardy and architectural firm Munday + Cramer (which is based in South Woodham Ferrers) – included the development of:

  • A new school entrance and reception
  • A new headteacher’s office
  • A new finance office
  • A new classroom link extension
  • 2 nursery classrooms and toilet facilities
  • An additional infants classroom
  • A soft play area for infants
  • A kitchen facility
  • A medical room

Our tender was the most competitive and we were instructed to begin the build earlier in 2023.

It was hugely important to the client that the two nursery classrooms and accompanying toilet facilities were ready before the start of the new school year, as well as the soft play area for the infants at the back of the building.

We’re pleased to say we hit this deadline for these elements. Many thanks to everyone who pulled out all the stops to get these classrooms ready to welcome their new intake.

The rest of the build is still ongoing, and we will release more updates on the project in due course.
