A.W. Hardy completes new industrial units in Galleywood, Chelmsford

Having been several months in the making, we’re delighted to share photos from a recent project that took place on the outskirts of Chelmsford.

We were approached by Chelmsford City Council to bid for the project via the public portal. After successfully navigating the procurement process, A.W. Hardy was chosen to take on the build of three industrial units on Beehive Lane in Galleywood.

The site, which is easily accessible via the main road, was previously home to Galleywood Hall, a notoriously run-down building that was left unused for many years previously.

Once the original building had been demolished, we worked closely with local architecture firm, John Finch Partnership, to bring their modern and highly practical design to life. Kingspan cladding was used to add enhanced insulating properties to the shell, along with excellent fire protection. These insulated panels are also notoriously energy efficient.

Internally, the units contain an extensive lighting setup and M pack disabled toilets. The walls and floors were decorated prior to sign off.

Bin and bike stores were incorporated into the layout, and there is plenty of parking available.

The landscaping will be completed in the spring. Trees, hedges, and grass seed will soften the outlook and create an even more attractive place to work.

These units are blank canvases that can be adapted to suit the needs of virtually any new occupant.

We have already received excellent feedback from the client, who has congratulated our team on a great job – and the council is currently accepting applications from local businesses.
