School Case Study
Southend High School Boys, Sports Complex & Music Block
The school’s achievement in competitive sport is excellent, with students winning no fewer than twenty national schools’ titles over the last ten years. The new complex had to be just as outstanding and was completed to the high specifications that a prestigious school such as this demands.
The build required a major extension to the existing school facilities and was erected on their playing fields. The project included extensive remodelling to ground works and a new playground, as well as the construction of:
- a large gymnasium
- sports hall
- fitness suite
- rehearsal space
- music and practice rooms
Construction methods included a steel frame, with part block and brick, aluminium cladding to the roof, under cover area and part external walls.
Budget: £2.1 million
