School Case Study
Hydrotherapy Pool & Suite
This unusual project took place over a nine month period. The facility is designed to benefit not just Lancaster school pupils, but also a wide range of people within the community needing hydrotherapy, such as stroke victims and adults or children with disabilities and debilitating illnesses.
First we demolished an existing classroom structure located at the back of the school premises. We then built a new brick and steel structure compromising of the following facilities:
- Hydrotherapy pool – with fully adjustable hydraulic floor allowing for a water depth ranging from 10 to 1500 cms
- Fitness room
- Changing rooms
- Welfare facilities
- New car park
The project included various environmentally sound features, including solar panels which heat the pool. The roof is partially covered with ‘green’ Seedham which serves to conserve energy by helping to insulate the building and fosters biodiversity.
Budget: £1.4 million
Client: Southend on Sea Borough Council
