School Case Study
Lee Chapel Primary School
Expansion of the existing school facilities while maintaining the normal day to day running of the school, demanded a meticulous contractor. After impressing teachers, parents and governors by completing Phase One of this project to a high standard, on time and with minimal disruption, we successfully negotiated Phase Two.
The build took place at the rear of the site necessitating the provision of our own access road across the playing fields. We installed a steel framed structure clad in brickwork, with an aluminium roof covering and under-floor heating. During the build we made provisions for young children requiring cross site access, the maintenance of normal play activities, and the obvious health and safety challenges caused by heavy plant vehicles and deliveries.
The new facilities incorporated:
- two class bases
- small hall
- toilet facilities
- new soft play area
- retaining brick wall and landscaping due to differing ground levels
- three class bases
- IT suite
- new playground
- large soft play area with play equipment
- two netball courts
Budget: £1.4 million
