School Case Study
Hamstel Infant School
A.W.Hardy & Co. Limited were please to re-establish a productive relationship with this local school in order to provide new hall facilities for the Infant School side of the premises.
A temporary hall structure (which could be maintained and converted into a permanent combined assembly hall/dining room area) was proposed by the client to meet the demands of this popular educational establishment.
The project was secured in open-tender and required precision construction of a raft slab ready to receive the new prefabricated hall. A metal-clad, insulated building was then carefully delivered to site, negotiating the intricacies of the access route off a busy main road, a crowded staff car park and the existing school playing field.
The internal space was then fitted out with a new kitchen, the remainder of the floor space being left open for assemblies and use as a dining hall. This area benefited from an exposed glulam frame portal construction, providing a clean, open arrangement to satisfy the needs of the school.
The former hall within the old school buildings was then converted into a new large classbase and adjoining staff room area necessitating a large partition wall to be constructed to divide the old hall. The whole of this interior space was then refurbished with new floor and ceiling finishes and new decorations throughout.
The entire scheme kept to the proposed timescale and was completed within budget to the satisfaction of all concerned.
