After submitting a successful tender for the contract, A.W. Hardy has begun construction of three new industrial units at Galleywood, just south of Chelmsford. The project is part of Chelmsford City Council’s ongoing investment in facilities for the local business sector. When complete after 32 weeks, the units will become home to a range of local or national retailers.
The units have been designed by architects John Finch Partnership, a local practice whose work has been recognised by a range of conservation awards. We are delighted to be working with the partnership to turn its plans into reality.
The new units are steel frame buildings, finished with Kingspan insulated panels that will boost energy efficiency. In addition, each unit will be fitted with solar panels, giving them extra sustainability.
A.W. Hardy has worked on a number of projects for Chelmsford City Council over the years. We are delighted to be working with the local authority once again to deliver an important community resource. The build is currently going well, and we are on programme to complete it on time.
David Bilcliffe, Contracts Director said:
“A.W. Hardy has a proud tradition of construction in the commercial sector. It is always a great pleasure to be involved in producing infrastructure and buildings that will be used to generate business and employment opportunities in Essex.”
