Green Court, Leigh on Sea

The former home of Leigh Tennis Club off Highlands Boulevard in Leigh on Sea has been transformed into a modern, up-market residential development.

The Design and Build contract was awarded to A.W. Hardy & Co. Limited following an open-tender process and initially envisaged 6 properties in two terraces to be constructed on the old tennis courts with a seventh re-development of 131 Highlands Boulevard. The scheme was altered post-tender to provide the developer-client with 6 detached four-bedroomed properties of modern, flat-roof construction using piled foundations, concrete floors to both levels and a combination of rendered and facing brick cavity wall construction.

Alongside this, the property fronting Highlands Boulevard was demolished and a new slate, pitched roof two-storey dwelling was constructed which also incorporated rooms in the roof and a balcony. This detached property was finished in coloured render and in common with the rest of the development, timber flooring finished the ground floor rooms with fully tiled bathrooms, cloakrooms and ensuites adding to the high specification appeal of the dwellings.

During the course of the build programme an additional, larger four-bedroom detached residence was added to the development, maintaining the general theme of flat roof dwellings with render and brickwork external elevations. As well as this eighth plot being larger, the extra unit stood out as the ‘prestige’ residence of the development with the inclusion of a balcony to the front elevation and a ‘corner sliding/folding door’ to the rear patio and garden area.

Private roads and landscaped external surroundings set off this high-level housing development in the sought-after Leigh-on-Sea location.
