Health Authorities Case Study
BUPA Wellesley Hospital, Southend
This project consisted of two phases – the first of which was the construction on a three acre greenfield site of a new:
- outpatients department
- ophthalmology hospital
- ophthalmology operating theatre
- large reception and foyer
The second phase involved refurbishing the existing hospital building while it remained fully operational – no mean feat as the hospital has 51 beds and three operating theatres, providing a range of medical and surgical treatments.
The refurbishment phase included the reception area, consultancy rooms, patient bedrooms, operating theatres and several departments including radiography. The work was completed on time and to budget, with minimal disruption to patients and staff.
Budget: £1.3 million
