Background

This first stage of this project, designed by BHP Architects, required us to create brand-new learning facilities, incorporating two class bases, a small hall, toilet facilities, a soft play area, retaining brickwork and landscaping.

After impressing teachers, parents and governors by completing Phase One of this project to a high standard, on time and with minimal disruption, we successfully negotiated the contract for Phase 2.

Phase 2

The second phase saw A.W. Hardy constructing three further class bases, an ICT suite, a playground, another large soft play area and two netball courts.

Construction took place at the rear of the school site, necessitating the provision of our own access road across the playing fields. We installed a steel-framed structure clad in brickwork, with an aluminium roof covering and under-floor heating. During the build we made provisions for young children requiring cross-site access, ensured normal play activities weren’t disrupted and successfully managed the health and safety challenges caused by heavy plant vehicles and deliveries.

Exciting new facilities

We were delighted to be the trusted contractor on these two projects. They were a testament to our highly skilled teams and their ability to be sensitive to the needs of a school during construction.
